Done.

My first attempt of any sort of legit ‘album’…. is done.

30 copies of 8 of my songs. I’ll be very picky about who gets one of these as I am focusing more on getting them to people of influence in music.

I need to thank Jenessa, Frank, Tara, Sagin, and Fred for lending me their voices for effects or singing.  Their voices added the right touch to about 4 of these songs. Things I couldn’t have done myself.  Especially thanks to Jenessa though for letting me “melodize” one of her original songs (last track on the list)

The quality of the music isn’t where I want it, but thats simply because of a lack of experience in mastering the tracks. So for that, my apologies. This is the best I can do with what I have to work with, and for that fact I’m proud of how it all turned out.

Enjoy!

EP? huh?

EP

So there is indeed a little “release”, I’ll call it to make it sound cooler, of my music.  Only about 30 cds will be made.  I hope to give them to those with an appreciation of the bizarre and unusual melodies.  Simply called “MrMelodist”, it will be available in a couple weeks.  Give me a heads up if you want a reserved copy and we’ll see what happens.  Haha! I’m making it sound so exclusive.  I’m even in the middle of a conversation that may give one of my creations a place on KCRW.  (fingers crossed!)

Go to www.virb.com/melodist to listen to some of them already!

Music Madness!

Posted in Melodist, Music on June 17, 2009 by Lucas Dorward

So I’ve been going nuts on Garage Band and Logic Express.  I don’t have the funds for anything more than those programs, so as I’ve always done…  I’ve seen how far I can tweak what I’m working with with really great results. Unfortunately and fortunately, with any artist who continues to invent new ways to express themselves, I have had to stray away from the 100% vocal rule that I had made for myself.  Electronic beats, and light instruments and synths have found there way into this new wave of music that is on its way to the Melodist site.  I have posted only a couple new songs so far so that you all could get an idea of where I’m going.  Check it out!

Irish Melody

Posted in Melodist, Music on March 30, 2009 by Lucas Dorward

featuringshelbyToday I got together with some friends and got a chance to share some of my music with them who hadn’t heard it before. While showing them I was reminded of how great one of the songs called “Irish Melody” was. For those who don’t know, I have a music project that involves me only utilizing my voice (singing and sound effects), hand clapping, snapping, and everything else in between to create every aspect of a musical compilation. Well Irish Melody was a song I had finished, but felt that I needed to add lyrics. One day my good friend Shelby came over to hang out for a bit. I showed her the song and she rather quickly came up with some simple but beautiful lyrics. This song has been completed with lyrics and all for a while now but as I said, today reminded me of just how beautiful, mellow, and soothing it was. Take a listen at the Melodist site.  It is the second to last song in the playlist.

(I believe these photos may have been taken on the same day we did this song.)
